About the Journal

Journal of Social Transformation and Community Engagement (JSTCE) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to community service, community engagement, community empowerment, and sustainable social transformation. First published in 2026, JSTCE is published twice a year, in August and February, through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. JSTCE provides a forum for researchers, lecturers, community practitioners, educational institutions, and community organizations to disseminate evidence-based community service programs and innovative practices that address educational, religious, and community development challenges.

JSTCE focuses specifically on community service within the fields of Islamic Religious Education and Islamic Education Management. Its scope includes Islamic and community education, religious literacy, character and moral education, teacher and educator development, educational innovation, curriculum and learning development, educational leadership and administration, institutional capacity building, quality improvement, digital transformation in education, pesantren and madrasah development, family and youth education, local wisdom-based education, and the development of inclusive, resilient, and sustainable educational communities. Community empowerment initiatives are welcomed when education and Islamic education management serve as the primary instruments for addressing community needs.

JSTCE particularly welcomes studies that position communities as active partners in identifying problems, utilizing local assets, developing solutions, implementing programs, and evaluating outcomes. Relevant approaches include Participatory Action Research (PAR), Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), community-based research, action research, participatory evaluation, and other evidence-based community empowerment approaches. The journal prioritizes studies demonstrating meaningful participation, measurable educational or institutional outcomes, community ownership, sustainability, inclusivity, and broader social impact, thereby strengthening the contribution of higher education to the development of educated, religiously literate, ethically grounded, empowered, and resilient communities
